Stepped Flush Windows
These are similar to flush or cottage style windows but with added weather protection and security.
To match the traditional flush (cottage) style where the sash(opener) is flush with the frame we provide a double stepped frame which has all the advantages of the storm proof but the look of a flush fit with equal spacing all-round the closed sash. Because of the stainless friction hinges and multi point locking concealed behind the second step our flush sashes always stay square in the frame.
The stepped flush casement window is typically 96mm deep and a replacement for 3 3/4″ traditional flush frames of the 1920s – 1950s which were made originally from 4″ planed timber. The window has the appearance of a traditional flush from both the outside and the inside but the double step arrangement hides the modern stainless sliding friction hinges and Espagnolette multi point locking. This gives the advantage of superior security with a vent facility and keyed locking handles.
They are all fully draft stripped and when used with the high efficiency 24mm double glazing provides an A rating for the whole window. A range of mouldings are available for the frame and sash including bevelled and ovolo, to further imitate the style of any original windows.
